To start a fire – there is usually some kindling, small pieces of wood or something in which a very small fire can be ignited, then comes the logs to bring warmth and/or the ability to cook a meal.  Jesus used that idea for judgment coming by fire:

(NASB) Luke 12:49 “I have come to cast fire upon the earth; and how I wish it were already kindled!”

Jesus said that He will come to judge the earth and it will be with fire.

For the followers of Christ:
We do not need to fear the fire of hell for we are kept in the very hands of Jesus and God.
(John 10:27-30)
However our works will be so judged by our Master.  Our works will be tested by fire…will they burn up as wood, hay, or stubble?  Or will our works stand that test as if they are made of gold, silver or precious stones?  (1 Corinthians 3:11-15)

For unbelievers:
Their names will not be found in God’s book of Life, and they will suffer in the fire prepared for Satan and the angels who followed him in rebellion against the living God. (Revelation 20:11-15)

For anyone’s name to be written in the Lamb’s (God’s) book of Life – no one is excluded in this evaluation…all will be judged by what is written there.
What must I do to be saved is an age old question…have you asked that of God?

1st we need to know that all sin is ultimately against God…

2nd we must acknowledge our need to be saved from our sins…

3rd we must recognize our need of a Savior – and only Jesus Christ qualifies for that office…

4th when you ask Jesus to save you, to forgive you for your sins…He does because He has done that work on the cross.

5th we are to know that it is not our good works, not our church affiliation, not our power, position or personal goodness…it is all of Christ Jesus.

The Test of Fire

What will it reveal about you before the living Lord God of the Bible?
