Responsibility Requires Obedience, Accountability
(Amplified Bible) Luke 12:45-46 “But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is late in coming, and begins to strike the menservants and the maids and to eat and drink and get drunk,
46 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour of which he does not know, and will punish him and cut him off and assign his lot with the unfaithful.”
Jesus is the Master of His followers. His followers are to be looking for His return. We do not know the day or the time…but He is going to come again!
Jesus is the One to Whom we are to fulfill our responsibilities. Our responsibility as followers of Christ Jesus requires our obedience to His words. We are accountable to our Master.
(Amplified Bible) Luke 12:47-48 “And that servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or act as he would wish him to act shall be beaten with many [lashes].
48But he who did not know and did things worthy of a beating shall be beaten with few [lashes]. For everyone to whom much is given, of him shall much be required; and of him to whom men entrust much, they will require and demand all the more.”
Strong words of warning…Jesus did not mince words or ignore the hard things His followers are to be doing…He warned of wrong actions and attitudes…if you do not believe Jesus is coming anytime soon, are you fulfilling your responsibilities in His name?
What has the living God given you to do? There is where you are to be faithful to Him.
To be prepared for your Master’s (Jesus) return, be ready by being faithful to Him today.
When Jesus comes, what will He find you doing?
Responsibility requires your obedience!
Responsibility is to be accountable!
(NIV) 2 Timothy 4:1-4 “IN THE presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge:
2Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage – with great patience and careful instruction. 3For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth in all situations and turn aside to myths.”
To act in accord with His will for His purposes to be fulfilled: have the same attitude that Christ had…He laid aside His glory, His splendor, His rights as God the Son and took on the form of a man…(Philippians 2:5-11) and He did this for you, we are to follow His example!
When Jesus comes, what will He find you doing?
Responsibility requires your obedience!
Jesus Christ’s followers are accountable to Him!
