Jesus used parables to point to a truth.
(NASB) Luke 12:39-40 “But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have allowed his house to be broken into.
40 ‘You too, be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect.’”

A man does not open up his house and invite anyone in to rob him…of anything.
A woman prepares her home for hospitality but not for anyone to rob her…of anything.

Each follower of Christ, each person, is cautioned, warned to be ready for the return of the Son of Man ~ He is coming when we will not be expecting Him.

What if…you willfully go through this day…pleasing yourself?  (Now I ask you, when you please yourself, can you really be pleasing the Lord God?)

  What does God’s word say?
(NASB) Romans 12:1-2 “THEREFORE I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

What pleases the living God?  To yield your life to Him.  To turn from being conformed to the world around you and to be transformed and renewed – by Him!

What if…you do not trust the living God for your circumstances this day?

  What does God’s word say?
(NASB) Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him
‘and He will make your paths straight.”

What pleases the living God?  Trust in Him and don’t depend on yourself in any area!

What if…Jesus, the Son of Man, returns this day? (What will He find you doing?)

  What does God’s word say?
(NASB) Luke 12:40 “You too, be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect.”

What pleases the living God?  This pleases God – be ready for when His Son comes!

Jesus is coming again ~

Jesus will come at an unexpected hour ~

Be ready ~
