“Worrywart” is an old expression which isn’t heard so much today, but it applies to this devotional.

For what do you worry?  What meals you will need to prepare?  What clothing you will need?   Notice that Jesus said in the verses below what you will need…doesn’t that imply that we are not to worry about our tomorrows?  Stop being a worrywart.

What did Jesus say about worry?
(NASB) Luke 12:22-24 “And He said to His disciples, ‘For this reason I say to you, do not worry about your life, as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on.
23 ‘For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.
24 ‘Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds!”

Consider the ravens: birds with black feathers, they don’t plant seed nor harvest it.  They don’t have a place to store the seed they do eat.  Yet God has provided for their needs each day.

Consider the Lord Jesus: He came and died for our sins, He did not give His life on the cross for the birds of the air…He gave His life for you ~ you are that valuable to Him.

For what do you worry?
Worry exacts a toll on your mind, your emotions and your body.

Worry can hurt a relationship.

Worry crowds out a grateful attitude.

Worry overrides thankfulness.

Worry says, ‘I don’t trust my Lord and God to show me His way for me.

Worry is fear.

What does Jesus say?  Stop being a worrywart!  Stop being anxious and troubled.

(Amplified Bible) Luke 12:22  “…Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious and troubled [with cares] about your life, as to what you will [have to] eat; or about your body, as to what you will [have to] wear.”

What is something you could do to replace that “worry” that consumes you?
Consider that God feeds the ravens.  Consider the wild flowers and their beautiful “dress”…God’s word says that you are more valuable than the birds of the air and the flowers of the field.  Think on these things.

(NASB) 1 John 4:18-19 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.
19 We love, because He first loved us.”
