Jesus responded to a man in the crowd of thousands surrounding Him. The man wanted Jesus to “…tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me.”  (Luke 12:1, 13)

Jesus then told a picture story, a parable…
(NASB) Luke 12:16-21 “…‘The land of a rich man was very productive.
17 ‘And he began reasoning to himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?
18 ‘Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
19 ‘And I will say to my soul, ‘Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.’
20 ‘But God said to him, ‘You fool!  This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?
21 ‘So is the man who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.’”

What a response!  Your riches and mine are to be in our experiences, our choices, our reliance on our relationship with God, the God of the Bible.  These riches are all, all, in Christ Jesus.  These riches are from God Himself!

The Lord Jesus gives instruction to all who will listen and put them into action concerning being rich toward God.
(NASB) 1 Timothy 6:17-19 “Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.
18 Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share,
19 storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed.”

As you read the Word of God…watch for the riches that are for the followers of Christ…the blessings which only come from the living God of the Bible.

The following Scriptures are only a small portion (there are many more)…to whet your appetite…bon appetite!

(NASB) Ephesians 1:7 “In Him (Christ Jesus) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.”

(NASB) Ephesians 1:18I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints…”
