The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.  Many people call the Holy Spirit “it”.  Since we call the Father and the Son “He,” shouldn’t we also call the Person of the Holy Spirit “He”?

(See John 14:16-29; 16:5-15, among other places Jesus taught His disciples about God the Holy Spirit.)

What are some of Jesus’ teachings about God the Holy Spirit?
 (NASB) Luke 12:10-12 “And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him.
11 ‘When they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not worry about how or what you are to speak in your defense, or what you are to say;
12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.’”

Forgiveness can be given if anyone speaks against Christ Jesus – He came to forgive all who turn to Him in repentance.
The (Amplified Bible) Luke 12:10 “…but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit [that is, whoever intentionally comes short of the reverence due the Holy Spirit], it will not be forgiven him [for him there is no forgiveness].”

What is one of the roles of the Holy Spirit of God in the lives of the followers of Christ?
When they are accused, threatened, brought before the authorities – He will give them the thoughts and words to speak in that very hour.

We are not to underestimate the importance of God the Holy Spirit in our lives as followers of Christ.  He quietly points to God the Father and God the Son.

Jesus also described the Holy Spirit when He called Him “another Helper”, the “Spirit of truth,” “Counselor” and He is described as the One Who will make known Jesus Christ.

How are you responding to the importance of God the Holy Spirit in your life?
