Jesus gave a severe warning about God’s wrath (remember this is in the New Testament. For those who believe that God’s wrath and judgment is saved only for the Old Testament, this warning is for you).

(NASB) Luke 12:4-5 “I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that have no more that they can do.
5 ‘But I will warn you whom to fear: fear the One who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear Him!”

Immediately following these warnings of God’s wrath on our sins, Jesus follows up with an encouragement for His followers, for those who have faith in Him as their Savior and Lord.

(NASB) Luke 12:6-7 “Are not five sparrows sold for two cents?  Yet not one of them is forgotten before God.
7 ‘Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.”

The living God of the Bible forgets no one, not even the sparrows.  Isn’t this amazing?  This God knows how many hairs are on your head!
As a follower of Christ I am not to fear my enemy’s power to kill my body – that is all they can do to me.  Why?  Because I am more valuable to God than many sparrows (and He does not forget those small birds!).

We are to fear God with reverence and worshiping Him and obeying His words of guidance and counsel found in the Bible…all of the Bible.

God values you and loves you and reaches out in loving compassion to you.  Have you responded by asking Jesus to be your Savior and Lord?  He died in your place; He took your sins as if they were His own.  Rejecting that act of grace is unforgiveable and God will judge that choice.

In the next couple of days, we will be considering that fact, that truth of God.

You are of great value to God…have you responded to Him?
