Seventy men, who had gone out to many towns, came back to Jesus – jubilant!  They were rejoicing because they had successfully healed the sick, they had given out the message “…the kingdom of God has come near.”  They had also found that the demons were subject to them in the name of Jesus.

How did Jesus reply to their jubilation?
(NASB) Luke 10:19-20 “‘Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.
20 ‘Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.’”

Jesus reminded these men that it is His authority which gives power.  Then He asked them to change their focus from what they had done to where their names were written.

On what fact do you rejoice?  If your name is recorded in heaven ~ Rejoice!

Another fact we should remember: it is the authority of Jesus, it is His power at work when His followers have victory over Satan.

Faith in the Lord Jesus – that is worth rejoicing over!  The moment you acknowledged and confessed that you believed Jesus as your Lord (Master) and believed in your heart (your innermost being) that God raised Jesus to life after He had died – you are redeemed, saved!  Rejoice!  (Romans 10:9)

Your faith in Jesus makes you God’s child forever and ever.  Rejoice!

Your name is recorded in heaven.  Rejoice!

No matter your background, no matter your family connections, no matter your circumstances – all followers of Jesus are His for eternity.  No one and no-thing can snatch you from the hand of Jesus!  Rejoice!

Jesus said:
(NASB) John 10:28 “…I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.”

(NASB) John 10:29 “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.”

No one is able to snatch you from the Father’s hand!  Rejoice!
