The Power of the Name of Jesus
(NASB) Luke 10:17 “The seventy returned with joy, saying, ‘Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.’”
Demons subject to the name of Jesus! Seventy men came back to Jesus after experiencing this very truth. Amazing! Exciting!
What is amazing about the name of Jesus? Using His name is to use His authority and power. The name of Jesus is His power at work! How exciting, that He gives His authority and His power to His followers!
In Acts 3:1-16, Peter and John gave healing to a lame man (crippled from birth). Peter proclaimed that faith in the name of Jesus was what strengthened the man. It was faith through Jesus which gave the man perfect health.
And that is true today: it is faith in the name of Jesus which strengthens and gives healing and wholeness. The power of the name of Jesus is seeable.
In Acts 4:5-12, Peter and John were arrested for preaching about Jesus and for healing that crippled man. Peter was bold because he was filled with the Holy Spirit of God – he courageously proclaimed that the name of Jesus gave good health to the man. Jesus, the One who was prophesied to be rejected and would become the cornerstone, was the name by which Peter and John depended upon to heal the man.
Then Peter said: “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” (NASB Acts 4:12)
The physical healing of that man proved the power inherent in the name of Jesus.
(Acts 4:10)
Religious systems and arrogant, self-righteous people condemn and reject the name of Jesus. (Acts 4:11)
The truth of God is: faith in the name of Jesus will save anyone from their sins. There is none other! (Acts 4:12)
When you pray in the name of Jesus, of what do you need to be aware? We are to pray according to God’s will, His lovingkindness, His greatness! ( Ps 51:1-2) (The name of Jesus is not to be used as a magic formula, or lucky rabbit’s foot. It is to be used carefully and in awe of Who He is!)
The power of answered prayer is not in the words you use or even the subject matter.
It is only when you use “in the name of Jesus” that His power is released, unleashed, done!
Are your prayers answered when you think they need to be accomplished? God’s timing is perfect, not your timing.
God’s answers cover all aspects, where you only have a tiny pinhole through which you look.
[REMEMBER: you and I are to pray according to God’s words – not ours! We need to agree with God’s way of doing anything. For His thoughts and His ways are higher, all-encompassing and wonderful! (Isaiah 55:8-9)]
How will you now pray?
