There are books written about giving or showing hospitality…Jesus gave instructions on how to receive hospitality.

When you are a guest…how do you enter a house?  Do you enter with the expectation of being a blessing to your host/hostess?

Jesus said to at least thirty-five pairs of disciples being sent ahead of Him into places He would visit:
(NASB) Luke 10:5 “Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house.’

Many times guests expect to receive a blessing, but Jesus said to give a blessing.  The Amplified Bible says it this way: “…Peace be to this household! [Freedom from all the distresses that result from sin be with this family].
Jesus also said:
(NASB) Luke 10:6 “If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.”

What peace is Jesus speaking of here?  In the Greek it means peace, harmony, tranquility; safety, welfare, health.

If a man of harmony, tranquility; (safety, welfare, health) is there, your peace will rest on him…like-minded people have the same basis of approach to life.  When there is true peace within our minds, emotions and wills, there is harmony and tranquility.
Such a house is a blessing to enter…such a house should receive your blessing of peace.

Jesus also said:
(NASB) Luke 10:7 “‘Stay in that house, eating and drinking what they give you; for the laborer is worthy of his wages.  Do not keep moving from house to house.”

To receive hospitality is to accept what is offered and I believe with a thankful attitude.
Sacrificial living is to sacrifice what I may want when I am given something different.

Where on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest form of hospitality), would you rate yourself as a recipient of another’s hospitality?
