With what do we usually associate the word “no”?  A two-three year old may have the favorite word of “No!”  A parent’s first words of discipline may be “No!” or “that’s a no-no.”  “No” is usually a word that has negative connotations.

But in at least one instance Jesus used the word “no” in a positive sense.
(NASB) Luke 10:4 “Carry no money belt, no bag, no shoes; and greet no one on the way.”

Jesus asked the seventy disciples (who He called and sent ahead of Him) to have complete dependency upon Him and His instructions for their meals, lodging and other needs.  At least 35 pairs of men going to different places to be dependent on what Jesus said for them to do.

Complete dependency on the Lord for needed provisions, to travel light, no second pair of shoes, and no stopping to “swap howdies”, chat, or visit.  No diversion from what Christ has in mind for His called ones to do.  He is the One Who is sending you and others ahead of where He Himself is going to come.

(He did it then, and I believe He is doing that very thing today.)

If you have no money (or charge/debit cards) – no fear of being robbed.
If you have no weight of luggage, suitcases – no weight to hinder you.
If you have no extra pairs of shoes – no worry about keeping track of “stuff.”
If you give no time by visiting with others – no waste of your time.

Think about this:
Freed to move quickly.
Freed to move toward God’s goal for you.
Freed to move toward others and their needs.
Freed to move in God’s timing!

So!  When God calls us to obey His words of instructions (found in the Holy Bible), we are to ‘listen up’ to what He wants us to do.
We need to be ready to go where He sends us (even if it is staying right where we are in our marriage or job).
We are to pay attention to how He wants us to travel.
We also need to know to whom we are to go.
And why?  To tell others of God’s Son as Savior, Redeemer, Lord. (For the kingdom of God is near to all who will receive Christ by faith.  Luke 10:9)

So!  When God sends you, remember that His positives of “no” are for His goals to be met through your obedience!
