The first imperative: Beseech! Ask! Pray! (Luke 10:2)

  The second imperative: Go!

(NASB) Luke 10:3 “Go, behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.”

Think about a lamb.  It is defenseless against a wolf.  A lamb needs constant care and protection of the shepherd.  A lamb is dependent on its shepherd for its very life.

As the Lord sends you and me out, He knows there are wolves where we are going.  A sharp word, a look of disgust or dislike, contention and whatever the world of wolves does, that is waiting for those who go, who are sent out into the Lord’s harvest fields.

What are we to do as lambs which are sent out?  As a lamb is dependent on its shepherd, so followers of Christ are to be dependent on Him as He leads into the world where wolves lurk and are waiting.

Trust is to lean our full weight of confidence on Him and not on ourselves.  We are to trust Him without doubting, debating, or denying our need of Him to lead us through His harvest fields.

Go!  Followers of Christ are sent out, even knowing that there are wolves out there!  We are to go anyway – the Lord of the harvest is sending us – He knows what He is doing.
