Jesus took Peter, John and James along as He went up a mountain to pray.

As Jesus prayed, He was transformed.  Peter, James and John saw Him!  Luke (the writer of this gospel) was not there, but he surely spoke with Peter and John about this unique experience.  [God the Holy Spirit has used God’s people to write God’s story.]

How did Jesus change as He was praying, what did He look like?
(NASB) Luke 9:29 “…the appearance of His face became different, and His clothing became white and gleaming.”  (Amplified Bible states: “His raiment became dazzling white [flashing with the brilliance of lightning.]”

John, many years later, was exiled on the island of Patmos…all the other disciples had been martyred in different ways and in different countries.  While he was on that island John was given a vision of his Lord Jesus Christ.
(NASB) Revelation 1:13-15 “…a son of man (the Lord Jesus Christ), clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and girded across His chest with a golden sash.
14 His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire.
15 His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters.”

Remember: when you see religious paintings and statues depicting Jesus = they do not come close to the reality of the real appearance of the Lord Jesus Christ.
There is no actual picture of Christ, only what artists envision, for no one today has seen Him…but one day all will see Him in His glory.
Jesus is the majestic Messiah.  He is God Almighty.  He is the coming King.

We do not “see” Jesus now, but the time is coming when every person on this planet earth will bow their knee before Him Who became sin in our place before God the Father.  It is difficult to wrap our thoughts around Christ Jesus’ Person and His majesty.

(NASB) Philippians 2:6-11 “…although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,
7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bondservant, and being made in the likeness of men.
8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,
10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

We will see The Reality of Christ and His Appearance one day…the question is, will we welcome Him as our Savior and Lord, or will we be judged for unbelief?
