Jesus said:
(NASB) John 8:12 “…‘I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.’”

What a picture of being in the darkness of sin.  But following Jesus is to live in His light and knowing that eternal life is yours!  What a contrast of not living in that darkness…no more…but to live in the light which Jesus offers you.

Darkness can be referring to death and Jesus promises light and life.

What changes are for those who decide to follow Jesus?
The wonder of His forgiveness for confessed real and specific sins.

The wonder and awe of His love for you!  Followers of Christ have been brought to where He is!  His protective banner of love is over us.
(NASB) Song of Songs 2:4 “He has brought me to his banquet hall,
And his banner over me is love.”

The wonder of His words to us and for us…He gives us His light which we need for the next step.
(NASB) Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.”

Why can you and I know (with no doubts) that Jesus’ promises are a sure thing?
(NIV) Psalm 119:89 “Your word, O LORD, is eternal;
it stands firm in the heavens.”

Not only is the LORD’S word eternal, He cannot lie…His words (all of them) are truth!
(NASB) Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent;
Has He said, and will He not do it?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

(NASB) Titus 1:1-2 “PAUL, A bond-servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of those chosen of God and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness,
2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago…”

Jesus is The Light of the world…is He your Light?

  As Good Friday is approaching where are your thoughts centered?  Are they on “why” Jesus died?  He went to the cross so He could give you life, have you thanked Him?
