The “why’s” and “what ifs” are not always important.  The “Because…of Jesus” is all important.

Simon, James and John were partners in a fishing business and sometimes they fished all night without any results to show for all their hard work.

Because Jesus was in Simon’s boat one day, He asked Simon to go fishing.  Simon obeyed even though no fish had been caught during the night.
Then…then Simon and his partners were overwhelmed with the fish they caught in their nets…another boat was called for and both boats rode low in the water.

Because of Jesus…His power:
(NASB) Luke 5:9 “For amazement had seized him (Simon Peter) and all his companions because of the catch of fish which they had taken;”
What power of Jesus is working in your life?  What has amazed you?

Because of Jesus…His purpose:
Simon reacted to the miracle of two boats overflowing with fish.  Simon Peter recognized that he was a sinful man and Jesus said “Do not fear”.        (Luke 5:8-10)
Because Jesus had a purpose for Simon, James and John beyond being fishermen, He said “Do not fear from now on you will be catching men”.       (Luke 5:10)
What is the motive, the driving force behind you as you live each day?  Is it the purpose Jesus has for you?

Because of Jesus…His words:
Because Jesus said, “…from now on you will be catching men” (Luke 5:10), these three men left their business of fishing, left the security of their homes and friends, and followed Jesus.
How are you living your life because of the words of Jesus?

Because of Jesus…
His power, His purpose, His words…
are they making a difference in your life?
