To Hang Onto OR To Let Go
Morning light found Jesus in a secluded place – away from interruptions, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
(NASB) Luke 4:42 “…and the crowds were searching for Him, and came to Him and tried to keep Him from going away from them.”
The crowds wanted more of Jesus’ healing and teachings. They did not want to lose this Man of miracles. So they searched Him out and tried to persuade Him, to argue with Him, and perhaps to even “lay a guilt trip” on Him.
Many times, the way to keep something or someone close to you…is to let go. That is difficult to do…but oh, so healthy for any relationship!
What do you most prize? What are you hanging onto for dear life? As a follower of Christ: to release it (or a person) is to turn it over to God.
Do you use persuasion, argument, or “lay a guilt trip” on another to keep them close to you? If so, you may find a rift, a separation from that person.
Love does not hang on in desperation but releases another from your brilliant persuasive techniques, your ability to argue your case with skill or even your subtle (and not so subtle) words to make another feel guilty.
The questions may be for you:
What are you hanging onto?
What are you going to let go?
