(NASB) Luke 4:14-15 “And Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about Him spread through all the surrounding district.
15 And He began teaching in their synagogues and was praised by all.”
(underlining added)

Look at the key words “in the power of the Spirit”.
Jesus was in the will of God when He was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil (Matthew 4:1).
Jesus was in God’s will as He began His ministry by teaching in the synagogues “in the power of the Spirit”.

How do you and I receive the power of the Holy Spirit?
(NASB) Acts 2:38 “…‘Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

It is the name of Jesus, it is His power through His work on the cross and in His resurrection from death…we need Jesus to forgive us of our sins.  He is the One Who has gained salvation for all who have faith in Him.

At the moment I asked Jesus to be my Savior, to forgive me of my sins, it was at that moment I was given the Holy Spirit of God to live in me.

Receiving Christ as Savior is to agree with God that I need Jesus.  I need to yield to God’s way and yes, to God Himself!

No matter if I am dying…my hope is in God!  No matter if life seems out of my control…my hope is to be in God!

(NASB) Ephesians 3:14-19 “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,
15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,
16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,
17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.”

This is my prayer for all who read this devotional:
(NASB) Romans 15:13 “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
