Jesus was in the wilderness for 40 days…fasting from food.
In the wilderness Jesus was dependent on God the Holy Spirit to lead Him. There were no other agendas, no other distractions.

What was another purpose for Jesus’ wilderness experience besides being alone with God His Father? Perhaps it was a time of preparation for His ministry in Judea and Galilee. His ministry would impact the eternity of all those who receive Him as their Savior and Lord. He needed that time alone with God.

Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness. Perhaps you are in a wilderness and it is not comfortable for you physically, emotionally, mentally, socially or even spiritually.
Being led by the Spirit of God may not be comfortable but it may be in preparation for something greater in and through your life. It was for Jesus.

I believe He began His preparation to go to the cross to defeat Satan while He was in the wilderness!
The implication of the importance of the wilderness becomes huge, doesn’t it? Jesus’ preparation for the cross began in the wilderness.

When we have a wilderness experience, aren’t we to seek God’s help, to trust His leading and preparation for the cross which He may have for us?

Jesus said:
(NIV) Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
29 ‘Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.
30 ‘For My yoke is easy and my burden is light.’”

Our Walk With God May Begin in the Wilderness
And there, in our wilderness, Jesus will be with us.
He knows all about the wildernesses of life!
