(NASB) Luke 2:19 “But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart.”

What did Mary have to treasure, to ponder?
She treasured the events, the words of God, people, circumstances – tucking them away in her mind and bringing them out one by one to think about them.

Mary had much to treasure:
1- The angel Gabriel’s visit to her in Nazareth– she had been chosen by God to bear His Son – the long awaited Messiah.  (See Luke 1:26-38)
2- Joseph’s acceptance of her pregnancy and being convinced of her virginity and virtue. (See Matthew 1:18-21)
3- Mary’s visit to Elizabeth and acknowledged to be the mother of the Son of God.         (See Luke 1:39-45)
4- Mary and Joseph’s trip from Nazareth to Bethlehemin the last days of her pregnancy. (See Luke 2:1-5)
5- No room was found, not one bed was to be had in Bethlehem– but God provided a stable for His Son to be born.  (See Luke 2:6-7)
6- The birth of Jesus and laying Him in a manger. (See Luke 2:7)
7- The unexpected visit of the shepherds and what they had to tell of their experience.  (See Luke 2:8-16)
An angel’s message, the brilliant light of God’s glory surrounding them in the night fields, the choir of angels and what they sang, the shepherd’s belief (expecting to find a baby lying in a Bethlehem manger).
Mary had much to treasure and to ponder.

What is in your treasure chest?  What do you take out and ponder about God’s work and His words to you, for you?
How much time do you take, each day, to treasure God at work in your life?
What will you “treasure” at the end of this day?

Treasuring God’s Words and Work is thinking about Him, and being a witness to His faithfulness to you.
