A sign in the Bible is a proof that what God has said will happen, or has happened (as is the case for the shepherds).

(NASB) Luke 2:12 “This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

The sign was the proof of the angel’s announcement (NASB) Luke 2:10-11 “…Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;
11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

A baby born was not unusual, but lying in a manger?  A baby wrapped in the customary cloths of a newborn lying in a feed trough for animals?
The shepherds were the first ones to hear of the Good News of Messiah’s birth.

Do people doubt that Jesus was born?  No.  The questions are usually: is Jesus the Son of God?   Is He the Savior, the promised Messiah?

Where do sincere people go for information about God?  Some may go to the Bible.  Many listen to what Christians believe, then watch how Christians live.  How sad when people watch and do not see some Christians following God’s words.

What a person believes about God, many times, comes from observation of those who profess to be Christians.

What can you do to follow the example of Dr. Luke as he researched for what he wrote in the book of Luke?  Do we as followers of Christ follow Christ’s teachings?  Do we study and read God’s words of truth?  Do we go to the source of truth which is God and His word in the Holy Bible?

You may be the only witness another will ever see of God’s truth lived out in daily living.  Your beliefs (and mine), your responses (and mine) to situations and circumstances should be as a committed follower of Christ because we have a Savior, because we are being observed.

We have Good News to share!…we are to have Great Joy to exhibit!  Our response to God and His Good News should be evidenced in our lives.
We have a Savior Who was born in a stable and laid in a manger.  He is the Son of God Who humbled Himself … for us!

Is your life being a ‘sign’ for others to know Jesus Christ?
