The shepherds guarding their flocks at night in the Bethlehem hills were suddenly visited by an angel of the Lord with the bright light of God’s glory showing all around them.  And they were terribly frightened…wouldn’t you be also?  The message they received was filled with specifics.

(NASB) Luke 2:10-11 “But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;
11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

13 looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,

  Rejecting the News of Great Joy is rejecting God’s gift of salvation.  Jesus said:
(NASB) John 12:48-50 “He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.
49 ‘For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak.
50 ‘I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me.”
