Dr. Luke carefully investigated the birth of Jesus Christ.  He recorded the facts of ‘who’ and ‘when’, ‘where’ and ‘what’ of Jesus’ birth events.

(NASB) Luke 2:6-7 “While they (Mary and Joseph) were there (Bethlehem), the days were completed for her to give birth.
7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”

Sermons have been built around the phrase “because there was no room for them in the inn.”  The required Roman census had filled up all the possible beds in Bethlehem.

They found a stable which provided shelter – it would have been warm because of the body heat of animals.  Mary had prepared for the coming birth with strips of cloth (swaddling cloths) in which to wrap the baby.

‘Who’ was this baby?  The Son of God – of true nobility and who would be known as the King of the nations (See Revelation 15:3-4) – and He was born in a stable!
This is ‘Who’ was born and laid in a livestock feeding trough for His crib.  Jesus did this for you – He humbled Himself for you!

He was born to be fully man (the Son of Man) to die on the cross as the perfect sacrifice as the Son of God – for you!

He is the “I AM” (Exodus 3:14).
Jesus declared:
I Am the Bread of Life (John 6:48).

I Am the Light of the World (John 8:12).

I Am the door (gate) of the sheep (John 10:7, 9).

I Am the Good Shepherd (John 10:11, 14).

I Am the Resurrection and the Life (John 11:25)

I Am the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6)

I Am the True Vine (John 15:1)

I Am the Alpha and the Omega (Revelation 1:17)
