Attribute/Name of God ~ the Horn of Salvation

Jesus Christ ~ the Horn of Salvation

Zacharias gave a prophecy at the circumcision of his son, John.  The prophecy concerned the Messiah, and John’s future ministry.

(NASB) Luke 1:68- 69 “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
For He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people,
69 And has raised up a horn of salvation for us
In the house of David His servant – ”
(Underlining added)

The Amplified Bible translates “horn of salvation”: “[a mighty and valiant Helper, the Author of salvation]”
Who is the “horn of salvation”?  It is Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ, the crucified, the dead and buried, the resurrected Lord Jesus!  He is the “horn of salvation”.  He is of the lineage of the house of David, the promised Savior.

Who or to what do you turn when you have problems?  Money is a problem for most people.  Are you depending on your position or your own power, perhaps your education, or status or your success in the world to solve your problems?  Have you made up your idea of “God” to suit your thinking which fits your own criteria, your own convenience, or who you want God to be?

Consider turning to the Lord Jesus Christ and relying on Him, praising Him, acknowledging Him.  Think about the Psalmist’s words after he was protected from his enemies, his very real enemies.

Many followers of Christ are dealing with persecution, threats, fear, being ostracized, left homeless and you may be able to add to this list.  Christians have enemies, real enemies and you may be experiencing that today.

(NASB) 2 Samuel 22:2-4 “…‘The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
3 My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge;
My savior, You save me from violence.
4 ‘I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised,
And I am saved from my enemies.”

Christ Jesus IS the “horn of salvation”…

“[a mighty and valiant Helper, the Author of salvation]”

We can turn to Him in confidence for our needs.
