Prophecy tells God’s purpose and plan as if it has already happened.

Zacharias spoke for the first time in over nine months at the circumcision of his son, John.
And he spoke prophecy about Messiah.  He also prophesied what his son would do in relation to Jesus.  This week we will consider this prophecy and how it relates to us today.

(NASB) Luke 1:68 “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
For He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people”

Delivered from the just results of our sins…redeemed from our sins.  We need a Savior for we are sinners whose sins are ultimately against God.

What do I need to recognize about myself from the above verse?
I need to be saved from my sins…I need to be saved from God’s just judgment on my sins.  I need His redemption.

What can we recognize about God from the above verse?
The Lord is to be blessed – why?  Because it was He Who came (Emmanuel – God with us).  It was He Who did the job completely.  It was He Who did what was needed for us to be forgiven for the things we do against God, our sins.  He came to redeem us from sin.

What could start this list of sins?
When we are not merciful ~
When we are two-faced toward others: saying one thing in their presence and another in their absence ~
When we harbor grudges ~
When we are unforgiving and harsh ~
What is on your list?

Praise the Lord!  He has come and accomplished redemption for His people ~ Hallelujah!
