Have you ever looked closely at Mary’s first words after greeting her elder cousin and hearing Elizabeth’s declaration?

(NASB) Luke 1:46-49 “And Mary said:
‘My soul exalts the Lord,
47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.
48 ‘For He has had regard for the humble state of his bondslave;
For behold, from this time on all generations will count me blessed.
49 ‘For the Mighty One has done great things for me;
And holy is His name.”

Mary acknowledged God alone – she did not point to herself and say ‘what a wonderful person I am…look what I have done to obtain God’s favor’.  How often do you point to yourself in your conversation?  How often do you tell others what you have done?

*Mary recognized, exalted and rejoiced:
in the Lord, her God and her Savior.  What causes you to rejoice?

*Mary recognized, exalted and rejoiced:
in God’s regarding her, He was mindful of her, He looked upon her…God had a special mission for her.  This writer believes that God has a special mission for you also.  No matter your age, no matter what you have or haven’t done in the yesterdays…what is it He wants you to yield to Him today?

*Mary recognized, exalted and rejoiced:
in being yielded to God’s will for her when the Angel Gabriel told her of being the one to give birth to Messiah.  (NASB) Luke 1:38 “And Mary said, ‘Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.’”
Being able to recognize God’s will doesn’t mean people yield to His will…what about you?

*Mary recognized, exalted and rejoiced:
that all generations would count her blessed by God.  How will you be remembered?

*Mary recognized, exalted and rejoiced:
that God, the Mighty One had done this for her – He was the One Who had done great things for her.   What do you recognize, exalt in and rejoice over in your life, which God alone has done?

*Mary recognized, exalted and rejoiced:
that God’s name is holy.  Do you hold God’s name as holy in your speech?

When we recognize God as the Mighty One in our lives,

we will have different values from the world.
