Sharing God’s Good News A.S.A.P.
Mary had been visited by the angel Gabriel and told she had been chosen by God to be the one who would give birth to Messiah. (See Luke 1:26-33)
Mary hurried from Nazareth to a town in the hill country of Judea. She had great news she wanted to share. And she would have wanted to share it with someone who would understand…that someone was Elizabeth. Elizabeth had also been chosen by the Sovereign God. She was to bear a son in her old age and he was to be the one who would tell of Messiah’s living among the people of Israel. (See Luke 1:13-17)
These two women had been chosen for an important mission concerning Messiah, the promised Deliverer, the Holy One of God who had been anointed to do God’s will and work.
When you have exciting, even unexpected, good news – to whom do you hurry to tell?
Cell phones, text messages, twitter, e-mail – they do not come close to an actual one-on-one visit. Sometimes a face-to-face contact is needed above all else.
Many times it depends on what your good news is which determines who you call and whom you visit as soon as possible.
Question: Are you excited and want to share the Good News of Jesus Christ? Who comes to mind – that is the person who needs your prayers and whom you should seek out.
Elizabeth was old and Mary was young – a teaching about age: it doesn’t matter your age! Please, do not let your age (whether young or older) keep you from following the Lord Jesus Christ and doing God’s will.
God chose Elizabeth and Mary for His plan and purpose to be carried out through Messiah. God is Sovereign and He chooses whom He will at any point in time in anyone’s life for His will to be done.
How are you responding to God’s call?
