Waiting for God to Act
What do you do when you know what God would have you do in accordance with His word in the Bible…and then you have to wait…to wait on God to act in your circumstances.
We have been considering Noah in the ark in this devotional…have you ever thought about what Noah and his family did while they were in the ark…with the rain falling and the waters rising? As the ark was lifted up from off the earth and began to float…for days and days, the weeks turned into months…
We do know that they would have had to care for the animals, to prepare their own meals and to tend to other things associated with living in the ark. Noah kept track of the days, when they went into the ark, how long the rains fell, how long the flooding persisted and how long it took for the earth to dry out enough to set foot on the ground without becoming mired in deep mud. (See Genesis 7:11-13, 17-24 and 8:1-14)
How did the family members get along? Did they maintain a mature and forgiving attitude toward each other as the incessant flood persisted?
They knew that the flood waters would not go on forever…but don’t you think they may have thought about that?
Did they exercise patience with each other and with the animals as they waited on God to act?
When you are waiting on God to act in your behalf and in the behalf of others…how patient are you? Are you continuing to do the work that is before you with an attitude of expecting God to be working? Is your faith in the living God, and that He keeps His promises as they are in the Holy Bible?
How are you at waiting for God to act?
