In the days of Noah, people had rejected, ignored and/or did not believe in God.
Today, people reject, ignore and/or do not believe in God.

In the days of Noah, God judged the ungodly by sending the flood of water upon the face of the earth.  And because Noah had found favor in the eyes of God (See Genesis 6:8), God protected and saved him and his family from this judgment through the ark.

(NIV) Genesis 7:6-12 “Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came on the earth.  7And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood.  8Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, 9male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah.  10And after the seven days the floodwaters came on the earth.
11In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month – on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened.  12And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.”

The specific day was noted of the beginning of the flood – the historical fact was established in time.  Names are given…real people were saved by being in the ark.

Noah had found favor with God; he lived by faith in the living God…do you?

Why did the LORD God send a flood?  He judged the ungodly.  He gave them time to repent and believe in Him while Noah was building that ark.  Noah preached as he built.

(NASB) 1 Peter 3:18-21 “For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;
19 in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison,
20 who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water.
  21 Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you – not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience – through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

God will judge ungodly people today.  The only way of escape from His judgment is belief in His Son, the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ.

Without Christ Jesus as my Savior I would be judged by God as ungodly, when I was without Christ I was ungodly.

Christ Jesus was symbolized by the ark which protected Noah and his family…they were saved from a watery grave.  Christ alone can save anyone from God’s judgment.

Have you found such protection from the judgment of God through belief in Christ Jesus?
