Attribute/Name of God ~ “I Am”

  God revealed “I AM WHO I AM” to Moses…and He will reveal Who He is to you.  He is the ever-present, living, eternal God.  (See Exodus 3:14)

God declares Himself over and over through His word, the Holy Bible.
(NASB) Isaiah 44:6 “Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts:
‘I am the first and the last,
And there is no God besides Me.”

(NASB) Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, ‘who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.’ ”

Jesus made seven “I Am” statements when He walked on this earth:
(NASB) John 6:35 “…I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.”  You are invited to ‘come’ to Jesus by Jesus Himself!

(NASB) John 8:12 “…I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”  You and you alone can choose to follow Christ Jesus; no one can do it for you.

(NASB) John 10:9 “I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.”  You may enter through ‘the door’ Who is the Lord Jesus; there is no other entrance into heaven, eternal life or God’s presence.

(NASB) John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.”  You have a good shepherd if you are a follower of Christ.  He has laid ‘down His life’ for you even if you have not asked Him to be your Savior.

(NASB) John 10:14 “I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me.”  If you are a follower of Christ you have a good shepherd Who knows you; are you getting to know Him for yourself?

(NASB) John 11:25 “…I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies…”  Where will you spend eternity, with Christ or without Him?

(NASB) John 14:6 “Jesus said… ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”  Only through the Lord Jesus can anyone go to the Father. Are you believing, living and being changed by Jesus Who is the way, the truth and the life?

 (NIV) John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”  What fruit are you bringing forth?

 

God is the “I Am”; He is the ever-present, living, eternal God.
