(NASB) Jonah 1:17 “And the LORD appointed a great fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the stomach of the fish three days and three nights.

Jonah had rebelled against the LORD his God but that did not negate his belief in Him as his God.
Jonah had run from what God wanted him to do – to go to Jonah’s enemies and warn them of God’s judgment of their sins.

Jonah’s refusal to obey God did not negate God’s love for Jonah.                (See John 10:27-29)
God did not reject Jonah; however, the LORD did discipline Jonah’s disobedience.

What were two of the unintended consequences of Jonah’s disobedience?
Sin against God always involves others.  The sailors lives had been put at risk because of Jonah’s running away from God’s call.
The lives of people in Nineveh were put at risk because of Jonah’s refusal to go.   [Tomorrow’s devotional will reveal Jonah’s prayer…]

What are some of the unintended consequences of your disobedience?

What do you now need to do to turn from any disobedience and turn to God?

Perhaps the following verse will help you:
(NIV) 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Your obedience or disobedience does impact your relationship with God.

Your obedience or disobedience will impact others.
