The Fruit of the Spirit…Faithfulness
Faithfulness can also be defined as loyalty.
God’s faithfulness is described by Moses in Deuteronomy 32:4 (NASB)
“The Rock! His work is perfect,
For all His ways are just;
A God of faithfulness and without injustice,
Righteous and upright is He.”
This is the God I want to worship…the God Who is the solid foundation on which to build my faith and my life. This God is just in all His ways, He is not capricious or unjust. He is the God Who is faithful; He is loyal to His words and to those who are followers of Christ Jesus, His Son.
What does God’s word say how I am to be faithful to Him?
(NASB) Psalm 89:1 “I WILL sing of the lovingkindness of the LORD forever;
To all generations I will make known Your faithfulness with my mouth”
To whom are you making known the LORD’S faithfulness, His loyalty? Only you can answer that…is there something you need to do? This is not to lay a guilt trip on you…your relationship with the living God of the Bible is where you can start. What does He want you to be doing? Not what you think He wants you to do…but what does His word say for you to do? Are you faithful in reading the Bible regularly? Are you faithful in praying, bringing everything to God?
Have you thought of how God is faithful to you in the specifics of your life and then thanked Him?
One area of God’s faithfulness can be found in:
(NASB) 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
The LORD God is loyal, He is faithful…
Are you loyal to God?
Being loyal to God is to be faithful in sharing the Good News!
Are you faithful toward others?
One way to exhibit loyalty, faithfulness toward others means no talking behind their backs and it also means defending them from slander.
This facet of ‘faithfulness’ of the fruit of the Spirit is in the followers of Christ, given at the time of asking Jesus to be your personal Savior. ‘Faithfulness’…toward God and toward people…is being loyal no matter the cost.
