Jesus’ Triumphant Death
(NASB) John 19:28-30 “After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished, to fulfill the Scripture, said, ‘I am thirsty.’
29 A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth.
30 Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ‘It is finished!’ And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.”
How did Jesus die? As a martyr? No! As a victim? No! He died as a triumphant, conquering Victor!
The word ‘victory’ is defined as: “Final and complete defeat of the enemy in a military engagement.”
And Jesus had been engaged in a battle with Satan. Jesus had been engaged in a battle with death and sin. He had completely defeated our enemy and had the victory!
The word ‘victorious’ is defined as: “Having overcome an enemy; triumphant; conquering.”
What a wonderful Savior Jesus is, He was victorious. He has overcome your enemy and mine. He was triumphant in His death on that cross. He had conquered sin, death and Satan.
Followers of Christ have a triumphant Savior!
Followers of Christ have a victorious Conqueror!
Do you?
