When you read, how much do you comprehend what the material is stating?  Do you ask the questions “what”, “why”, and “how”?

What is your comprehension of being a Christian?  Perhaps you need to ask these questions of yourself:
What does it mean for me to be a Christian?
Why do I think I am a Christian?
How did I come to have that personal relationship with the living Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior?

The disciples did not comprehend Jesus’ words as He warned them of future events in Jerusalem:
(NASB) Luke 18:31-34 “Then He (Jesus) took the twelve aside and said to them, ‘Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things which are written through the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished.
32 ‘For He will be handed over to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and mistreated and spit upon,
33 and after they have scourged Him, they will kill Him; and the third day He will rise again.’
34 But the disciples understood none of these things, and the meaning of this statement was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend the things that were said.”

What do you comprehend about what Jesus Christ did for you when He had accomplished all in Jerusalem?

What does it mean for you to be a Christian?
Jesus was handed over to the Gentiles, mocked, mistreated, spit upon, scourged, and killed for you.  He was resurrected to physical life on the third day, His victory over death can also be your victory over the fear of death.

Why do you think you are a Christian?
Do you believe in your heart by adhering, trusting and relying on Christ?
(See Romans 10:9)

How did you come to have that personal relationship with the living Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior?
Have you confessed with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord” and are “saved”?  (See Romans 10:10)
