Jesus said:
(NASB) Matthew 5:17-18 “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.”

Prophecy of Zechariah:
(NASB) Zechariah 9:9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king is coming to you;
He is just and endowed with salvation,
Humble, and mounted on a donkey,
Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”

Jesus came to fulfill all prophecy…the ‘daughter of Zion’, the ‘daughter of Jerusalem’ are the Jews.  Gentiles are included in this prophecy for we too, have been given the opportunity to believe in Jesus as our Savior.
In the Old Testament, when a king rode on a donkey, he was coming in peace.  When a king rode a horse, he was coming as a warrior.
At the beginning of the last week of Jesus’ life, He entered Jerusalem riding on a donkey…He came to Jerusalem as the King of Peace.

Prophecy fulfilled:
(NIV) Matthew 21:1-5 “AS THEY approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2saying to them, ‘Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her.  Untie them and bring them to me.  3‘If anyone says anything to you, tell them the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.’
4This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:

5‘Say to the Daughter of Zion,
‘See, your king comes to you,
Gentle and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’ ”

Consider this:
Jesus the King, has extended peace to you.  God the Father Who is Holy has accepted Jesus’ sacrifice in your place.  Salvation has been made available by Jesus…His triumphal entry into Jerusalem ended on the cross at the end of the week.  Jesus alone is endowed with salvation, and He extends salvation to all who believe in Him.
There He made it possible for all who believe that He died in their place for their sins to receive salvation in His name.

What are you doing with such a great salvation?
