(NASB) Galatians 5:25 “If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.”

Are you a ‘born again’ believer in Christ Jesus?  If so, you have been given the Holy Spirit of God.  When anyone receives Jesus Christ as their Savior…at that instant the Holy Spirit is given.

If we live by the Spirit then it follows we are to walk into each day by the Spirit…His power, His might, His counsel.
The Amplified Bible states this in conjunction with this verse:
“[If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.]”

It is a ‘given’, it is understood, it is a spiritual fact of reality…we who have the Holy Spirit within are to conduct our lives under the control of the Spirit.  Since followers of Christ have yielded their lives to Him as Savior, then it follows we are to yield our lives to God the Holy Spirit.
I do not always live as if the Holy Spirit lives in me…my old nature (the one that was without the living God of the Bible in my past) rears its ugly head and wants to control me…again.

The Lord God provided the way out of bondage from that godless nature through His Son, Jesus Christ.  Freedom from the bondage of sin and the old nature does NOT mean that I will never sin again, I will.  But this is why I need Jesus Christ – He saves me from my sins.  When I sin, confession of that sin needs to be done ASAP…I need Jesus, He hears me wherever I am!

(NASB) 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

After confession, and a conscious choice to turn from that sin…then we are to give thanks and rejoice in God our Savior.
The spiritual reality of the Holy Spirit within guides and counsels us, bringing us to repentance.  Freedom and victory are ours through our Lord and Savior.

A spiritual reality…you are forgiven…Rejoice!
