The Promise of the Rapture
What is the hope that all followers of Christ need to remember? Jesus is coming back one day to take His followers with Him into heaven.
This is not wishful thinking; it is a truth which God has given us in His word.
(NASB) Acts 1:9-11 “And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
10 And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them.
11 They also said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”
What a promise of hope! Elsewhere we are given a little more information:
(NASB) 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 “But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.”
What does the Scripture say we are to do with this information?
(NASB) 1 Thessalonians 4:18 “ Therefore comfort one another with these words.”
We are encouraged to have hope in the Living Hope (Jesus Christ). Our hope is to focus on the living God, not on life filled with perplexities, or the hopelessness of politics and politicians…no matter what country you live in, no matter your political persuasion…Christ is coming for His followers one day. No one knows the day or the hour but we can hope because our God is living and He is faithful!
(NIV) 1 Thessalonians 5:1-2 “NOW, BROTHERS, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.”
Followers of Christ have the hope and the promise…Jesus is coming!
