Jesus had prayed in the garden, He had withstood the trials before the Jewish leaders and before Pilate; He had hung on the cross and now was near the end of His purpose and suffering.

(NASB) John 19:28 “After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished, to fulfill the Scripture”¦”

Jesus had done everything He had come from heaven to do. All the Law and the Prophets concerning Messiah”™s first coming “¦ accomplished!

(NASB) Matthew 5:17-18 “”˜Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.

18 “˜For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.”

Jesus”™ attention to detail is astounding. You could expect it in His ministry and even as He prepared for the events that led to His death on the cross. But to fulfill every prophecy while He was dying on the cross in suffering and agony?

Jesus did everything which you and I need in order to stand before God without condemnation. Jesus took care of that on the cross.

Why does anyone need to ask Jesus to be their Savior? Because Jesus took care of our sins on the cross. By not asking Jesus to live in our lives, our hearts, our inner most being, it is refusing what He did on the cross in our behalf.

How do you now respond to this Jesus Who accomplished all that you need for eternal life in His name?
