Personal Separation From God
Yesterday we considered the crowd and their apparent lack of concern and concept of what was happening as Jesus was dying on the cross.
(NASB) Matthew 27:46-49 “About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “˜ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?”™ that is, “˜MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?”™”
47 And some of those who were standing there, when they heard it, began saying, “˜This man is calling for Elijah.”™
48 Immediately one of them ran, and taking a sponge, he filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and gave Him a drink.
49 but the rest of them said, “˜Let us see whether Elijah will come to save Him.”™”
Today consider yourself: where is your concern and concept of God”™s will for you? Are your concerns and concepts pre-occupied with the economy, work-place problems, politics, social issues, and/or family matters?
Perhaps you are beginning to think about the living God and His desires for you in your circumstances. When we grow in our knowledge of the personal relationship that God offers us, our concerns and concepts of God”™s will for us changes.
Since all of us need Jesus to rescue us, to save us from our sins, what does God say about all of this? As you read and study God”™s word, the Holy Bible, “˜listen”™ for what God says about His Son, about salvation, about living a life which pleases God.
Who do you know who is separated from God?
Do they understand that all are sinners and that their sins are against God? If so, then they will understand their distance, their separation from God. If they think of themselves as being “˜pretty good”™ and doing well ““ If they have no concern or concept of doing wrong against God, then they are in desperate need of Jesus to save them from their sins ~ they need Jesus to be their Savior. That is what He was doing as He hung on that cross.
