What is significant about:

(NASB) Luke 23:34 “And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves.”

1- Prophecy was fulfilled: This verse fulfilled the prophecy of (NASB) Psalm 22:18 “They divide my garments among them,

And for my clothing they cast lots.”

The soldiers who executed the prisoners were entitled to the clothing of those on the crosses.

2- Nakedness exposed the criminals to all who looked: Jesus hung, fully exposed, on the cross in our place. He took our sins as if they were His own. The shame and humiliation of public exposure and ridicule was for you and me. [If anyone does not accept Jesus”™ sacrifice in their place, then they will stand before God without being clothed with the righteous covering of Christ.]

God”™s word states that we don”™t realize our very real nakedness before Him (NASB) Revelation 3:17-18 “”˜Because you say, “˜I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,”™ and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.”

Can you say with Isaiah: (NASB)Isaiah61:10“IwillrejoicegreatlyintheLORD,

My soul will exult inmy God;

For He has clothed me with garments ofsalvation,

He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness.”

In the sight of God we are naked and exposed ““ He knows, He sees our motives, our agendas, our beliefs, our sins. I need Jesus to cover me with His righteousness”¦are you covered?
