What did Pilate see as Jesus was led out of the Praetorium to stand before the Jewish leaders?

Jesus stood there after being flogged and mocked.

(NASB) John 19:4-5 “Pilate came out again and said to them, “˜Behold, I am bringing Him out to you so that you may know that I find no guilt in Him.”™

5 Jesus then came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, “˜Behold the man!”™”

The charge against Jesus was leading a rebellion. Jesus never told His followers to take up a sword against Rome.

What did the Jewish leaders see? They saw the man who claimed to be the Son of God, the King of the Jews. They saw a man who deserved the death sentence for blasphemy against God.

(NASB) Leviticus 24:15-16 “You shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, “˜If anyone curses his God, then he will bear his sin.

16 “˜Moreover, the one who blasphemes the name of the LORD shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him. The alien as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death.”

(NASB) John 19:6-7 “So when the chief priests and the officers saw Him, they cried out saying, “˜Crucify, crucify!”™ Pilate said to them, “˜Take Him yourselves and crucify Him, for I find no guilt in him.”™

7 The Jews answered him, “˜We have a law, and by that law He ought to die because He made himself out to be the Son of God.”™”

What did Jesus know as He stood there? He was where He needed to be, right at the time He needed to be there. He knew that what was happening had been foretold and that it was for the salvation of any of these very men if they received Him as their personal Savior.

(NASB) Acts 2:22-23 “Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know ““

23 this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God”¦”

What do you see as you read these words? Do you see your need of Jesus to forgive you of your sins? Do you see that there is no one else who has done this for you?

What do you “˜see”™ and how will you respond?
