Jesus was flogged on orders from Pilate. Each stripe of the flagella tore away skin and muscle. Jesus did this for us. You and I deserve God”™s wrath and punishment for the sins we commit against Him. Yet Jesus took our deserved punishment.

(NASB) John 19:1-3 “PILATE THEN took Jesus and scourged Him.

2 And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and put a purple robe on Him;

3 and they began to come up to Him and say, “˜Hail, King of the Jews!”™ and to give Him slaps in the face.”

Jesus suffered from the physically excruciating pain of being beaten, flogged and scourged. Jesus was without sin.

(NASB) 1 Peter 2:24 “and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.”

You might think, what sins have I done? As I thought about that question, here are some of my sins against God”¦hypocrisy, arrogance, willfulness, anger, gossip”¦and the list goes on. What sins do you need to tell the Lord and ask His forgiveness; because all sin is against God.

For what are you grateful to God the Son?

Are you grateful that it is through the Lord Jesus anyone can be saved?

(NASB) Acts 4:10, 12 10“let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead ““ by this name“¦”

12 “And there is salvation in on one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”

Are you thankful for the punishment Jesus Christ received in your place? Anyone who receives Him as their Savior is healed from their sins because of what He did on the cross.

(NIV) Isaiah 53:5 “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

Undeserved Punishment”¦for you!
