False testimony twists truth to fit an agenda. It may have a thread of truth in it but it is intended to harm, maim or kill.

(NIV) Proverbs 25:18 “Like a club or a sword or a sharp arrow is the man who gives false testimony against his neighbor.”

False testimony may sound “˜right”™, but it undermines reputations to destroy people”¦have you experienced that? Jesus did.

False testimony seeks to discredit a person”™s words:

(NASB) Mark 14:57-59 “Some stood up and began to give false testimony against Him, saying,

58 “˜We heard Him say, “˜I will destroy this temple made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.”™

59 Not even in this respect was their testimony consistent.”

What had Jesus actually said and what had been His meaning?

(NASB) John 2:19 “Jesus answered them, “˜Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”™”

(NASB) John 2:21 “But He was speaking of the temple of His body.”

False testimony lies, deceives and mocks justice. All of this was happening as Jesus stood “˜trial”™ on that morning before dawn.

(NIV) Proverbs 12:17 “A truthful witness gives honest testimony, but a false witness tells lies.”

Proverbs 14:25 “A truthful witness saves lives, but a false witness is deceitful.”

Proverbs 19:28 “A corrupt witness mocks at justice, and the mouth of the wicked gulps down evil.”

Your testimony toward or about others”¦is it false, deceitful, lying and mocking justice? Or is your testimony truthful, giving honest testimony and saving lives instead of seeking to destroy main, harm or kill?
