On the night Jesus was betrayed, He was brought before the religious leaders in Jerusalem and tried in a mock trial”¦before dawn. He had already been found guilty and sentenced to death by these men”¦the next thing they had to do was find something to substantiate their charge of Guilty!

(NASB) Mark 14:56 “For many were giving false testimony against Him, but their testimony was not consistent.”

What a farce”¦this “˜legal”™ council used the legalities to come up with a concocted testimony against Jesus. They needed two or three witnesses who would have the same testimony to use against Jesus.

What they did was illegal according to the Law of Moses:

(NASB) Exodus 20:16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

The ninth commandment of the Ten Commandments was being blatantly broken”¦by these men.

(NASB) Proverbs 12:17 “He who speaks truth tells what is right,

But a false witness, deceit.”

All people have a choice ~ to speak truth by telling what is right OR lying, bearing a false witness which is deceitful.

What is your reputation? Are you known to speak truth or are you known to be deceitful and a liar?

Remember this generalization: you can fool some of the people some of the time but you can never fool all the people all the time.

(NASB) 1 John 1:6-7 “If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth;

7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.”

What is your witness; is it filled with truth or is it deceitful?
