From experience, people say that they have 20/20 vision. It is amazing about hindsight”¦we understand things in a different way when we see the results of words, of actions and of decisions made in the past.

What was happening in the lives of the disciples and Jesus on their last Passover night together? The disciples listened to Jesus, just as they had for the past three years. As the Passover meal was eaten, Judas Iscariot left”¦the disciples had no clue as to why”¦they would learn later that he left to betray Jesus. [Their 20/20 hindsight would be activated.] But Jesus knew.

Jesus had told them that He would be leaving them”¦the disciples did not understand that Jesus would be betrayed, beaten, crucified and die on the cross within the next twelve hours. But Jesus knew. [Only after all these things occurred and Jesus rose from the grave did they begin to understand that He prophesied all these things so they would believe in His work of salvation. Again, their hindsight would give them understanding.]

(NASB) John 14:31b “Come now; let us leave.”

It was time for Jesus to go forward, to the Garden of Gethsemane. And He led His disciples to the Mount of Olives.

How can the simple phrases of Jesus affect your life today? Consider your life. Consider Jesus”™ words as being directed to you. “Come now; let us leave.”

Isn”™t Jesus in the business of growing us as God”™s children, as followers of Christ Jesus? Doesn”™t He want us to trust Him for the path that our lives take?

Think of Jesus saying: “˜Come now insert your name; it is time to leave and walk with Me in the path I choose for you.”™

That is what trusting Jesus is about, isn”™t it? Jesus said in John 14:1 “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God; believe also in Me.” (NASB)

Using your hindsight, where has the Lord led you in the past? And using trust and belief in Jesus”¦where is the Lord leading you today? You may not know, but Jesus knows.

Trusting Jesus is living by faith in His leading.
