If words are backed up with actions ““ and those words/actions are based on the truths of God ““ then people will have the opportunity to see godly love at work.

Obedience to God”™s commands is not an option with followers of Christ. If there is love for God, then obedience to His commands will be the result. God”™s love has secured my relationship to and with the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior. If God”™s love is for me, then His Holy Spirit has drawn me to yield my ways, thoughts, motives and life to Him.

If I love the Lord Jesus, then I will show my love by obeying His commands.

Jesus said to His disciples at the Last Supper:

(NASB) John 14:15 “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”

To love Christ Jesus is based on the If“¦then“¦principle. If I love Him”¦then I am to obey Him, to yield to His ways and not insist on my ways.

(NIV) 2 John 5-6 “Now”¦not as though I were writing to you a new commandment, but the one which we have had from the beginning, that we love one another. 6 And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.”

Christ has given us an example of loving others, when He went to the cross to die as a selfless sacrifice in our place.

(NASB) 1 John 3:16 “We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”

Christ Jesus”™ example: If we love others, then godly love loves with actions and in truth.

(NASB) John 14:15

“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”
