Jesus warned His followers to watch out and not be deceived by people or events. He told them there would be definite signs which can be seen concerning the “˜end of the age”™. (See Matthew 24:6-14)

Earthquakes, famines, wars, persecutions of Christian believers, increased wickedness, and with the technological advances today, the Good News of Jesus Christ is being given out into all areas of the world.

No one knows God”™s exact timetable (See Matthew 24:36). But we do know that God”™s timing is on track”¦

Jesus was lovingly preparing eleven disciples for His coming separation from them. He knew the anguish and desperation they would go through when He would die on the cross and be buried in a tomb”¦within the next 24 hours!

(NASB) John 13:33-34 “Little children, I am with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, now I also say to you, “˜Where I am going, you cannot come.”™”

Jesus knew the end of these men”™s lives ““ most would be martyred, some in the next few years and others thirty years in the future. At least one would live to be quite elderly.

What is at least one truth for today from this Scripture?

No matter how long you live, no matter the reason for death, we are to tell others about the Lord Jesus Christ”¦they need to hear the Good News of what Christ has done for them.

There are men, women and children today who are being burned out of their homes, tortured, humiliated, imprisoned, killed, maimed for their faith in Jesus Christ. Countries such as India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Iran and other countries have citizens and leaders persecuting the “˜body of Christ”™.

How can we help them? One way is to pray for them. Pray for their endurance, pray for their faith to be strengthened daily, pray that they would be giving godly love and forgiveness toward their tormenters.

These days are very much like the “˜end of the age”™ which Jesus warned His followers about. There are wars, famines, earthquakes, persecutions, and wickedness abounding. We are not to be surprised but grounded in the Lord Jesus Christ as our foundation for our faith.

My prayer: Oh Lord, I pray that I too, would be found faithful to pray in this day of turmoil and persecution. I pray that my faith would be built on Jesus Christ alone. I pray that my life will glorify the living God of the Bible. In the strong name of Jesus, Amen.
