Two friends were playing golf. One could not continue play due to pain from an old injury. Not wanting to go home that person became the caddy, driving the golf cart, holding the flag during the putts on the green, wiping the clubs and putting them in the golf bag, serving selflessly.

Jesus gave an example to His twelve disciples at the Last Supper how He expects His followers to follow His example. By His actions He showed them (and us) true humility by selflessly serving others.

(NASB) John 13:5, 15

5 “Then He poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples”™ feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.”

15 “For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you.”

The student is not above his teacher. Since Jesus has selflessly served us”¦we are to selflessly serve others without selfish motives or hidden agendas for our own benefit.

Jesus is our example of a true servant”¦to lay aside our rights and to serve others, selflessly.

(Amplified) Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”

A servant”™s heart sees to the needs of the one they are serving”¦and that is what Jesus has done for you! He has selflessly served so all peoples can have the opportunity to be saved from certain sin, death and Satan.

Think of someone you highly esteem”¦to take on a servant”™s role to serve you in your home”¦would you want that to take place?

This concept of Jesus being a Servant for me is difficult to grasp”¦yet the Son of God became the Son of Man so you and I will not remain enslaved to sin, death and Satan.

Should we not take inventory?

How do you serve others? Is it for your ultimate benefit or theirs?

What do you need to change in order to give __________ true selfless

service without benefit to yourself in mind?
