When you go to your doctor”™s office or to the hospital ““ the people who are there are seeking medical attention. They have a variety of illnesses ““ and the illnesses range from minor to life-threatening emergencies. This great variety is to be expected. When you go as a patient you expect to be seen by the attending physician”¦when you are not ““ it can be disappointing. Notice Jesus. He personally gave healing with TLC.

(NASB) Luke 4:40 “While the sun was setting, all those who had any who were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and laying His hands on each one of them, He was healing them.”

Why is it so important to know that the sun was setting? When this event was taking place, it was on the Sabbath. (See Luke 4:31, 38)

The Jewish people could only travel a certain distance on the Sabbath and they could not carry anything that was over a certain weight. The Sabbath started on sundown of Friday and was over at sundown on Saturday.

So, when the sun was setting on the Sabbath they could take their loved ones who were sick to Jesus. If the sick had to be carried, it was “˜legal”™ according to the Jewish leaders.

Luke 4:40 does not tell us what the illnesses were, only that there were a variety.

What is comforting with Jesus as the attending Physician?

He was personally involved with each patient.

He touched each one.

He did not consider the time of day.

He did not let His physical tiredness keep Him from healing those in need.

Jesus put other”™s needs above His own needs.

Whatever your need, pray to the Lord Jesus for His healing”¦and expect His very best for you will be done.

Jesus is personally interested in you.

Jesus never considers the time of day when you go to Him.

Jesus will give His best for your real need.

Jesus has already put your needs above His own when He went to the cross for your sins.

Jesus is available to be your Physician.

Our need is Jesus in our lives.
