Sound Judgment”¦From a Scriptural Perspective
(NASB) Proverbs 3:5-7 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.
6In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the Lord and turn away from evil.”
Sound judgment and discernment are needed by committed Christians. Where can we go to learn what is “˜sound”™? Why not go to God and His word? How else can we learn godly discernment?
There are some truths concerning sound judgment and discernment in which we can trust in Proverbs 3:21-22, 25-26.
Scriptural Perspective concerning Sound Judgment and Discernment:
(NASB) Proverbs 3:21-22 “My son, let them (wisdom and godly knowledge) not vanish from your sight;
Keep sound wisdom and discretion.”
22 So they will be life to your soul
And adornment to your neck.”
1. Consciously choose godly wisdom and discretion.
2. Consciously choose to be attired with sound judgment and discernment as if you were going somewhere important
(for you are).
(NASB) Proverbs 3:25 “Do not be afraid of sudden fear
Nor of the onslaught of the wicked when it comes;
26 For the Lord will be your confidence”™
And will keep your foot from being caught.”
3. Confidence in the Lord your God ““ no fear, for your God is still God no matter your circumstances. Sound judgment and godly discernment leads to confidence, not in yourself, but in God Himself.
