People who have jobs, or are looking for a job, many times feel the pressures of the daily grind. The daily routines of work have aptly been called “˜the rat race”™. The basics of life are met through the take home pay. Bigger houses, more cars, more “˜toys”™ create the need for more money and the “˜rat race”™ is on.

How are the followers of Christ to handle the daily pressures of meeting bills and “˜getting ahead”™?

Jesus said to His disciples as they listened to His teaching during the Sermon on the Mount:

(NASB) Matthew 6:31-32 “Do not worry then, saying, “˜What will we eat?”™ or “˜What will we drink?”™ or “˜What will we wear for clothing?”™

32 For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.”

The heavenly Father knows His children”™s needs”¦we do not need to “˜run”™ after these things, we do not need to make them our “˜end-all”™ in life.

Jesus next stated what our first priority is to be as His follower:

(NASB) Matthew 6:33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

When we put God first in our lives, we are to yield to His will for us ““ it is His kingdom in which we now live.

When we put God first in our lives, we are to know that it is His righteousness, and none of our own, on which we are to rely.

Why are we not to worry about our tomorrows?

(NASB) Matthew 6:34 “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Followers of Christ should prayerfully consider their priorities in life.

Followers of Christ are to seek first God”™s kingdom ““ for His will to be done

in their lives.

Followers of Christ are to seek the righteousness which only comes through

the Lord Jesus.

Followers of Christ are to prayerfully reconsider their priorities in life.

Followers of Christ are not to worry.
